Alec Baldwin fatally shoots woman during prop gun ‘misfire’ on movie set: Report

Alec Baldwin killed one person with a prop gun while he was in New Mexico, according to authorities.

“There has been an accident on the New Mexico Rust set. It involved the misfired prop gun with blanks,” said a spokesperson for the film “Rust”. Told Deadline.

In a statement shared with many news outlets, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office stated that Mr. Baldwin was responsible for pulling the trigger at Bonanza Creek Ranch.

” A prop firearm was discharged Alec Baldwin 68, actor and producer,” sheriff’s office stated.

Halyna HUTCHINS, the film’s principal cinematographer was killed, and Joel Souza was also injured, according to the department.

“Detectives will investigate how and which type of projectile was released,” the sheriff’s department stated in a statement.

The investigation was ongoing, but no charges were filed yet, according to the office.

Ms. Hutchins, who was transported by helicopter to the University of New Mexico Hospital, was declared dead by medical staff. After being taken by ambulance, Mr. Souza was transported to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center.

According to the New York Post, Mr. Baldwin had posted an on-set photo of himself on Instagram earlier in the day dressed in western wear.

“An in-person visit to the office. It’s exhausting, it’s awful,” Mr. Baldwin wrote.

The photo was taken down on Thursday evening.

The Post stated that Mr. Baldwin ‘ representatives didn’t immediately respond to emails seeking comment.

In the Western, which began filming earlier in the month, Mr. Baldwin portrays an outlaw who helps his estranged grandson who was sentenced for the wrongfully killing a rancher.
