MINNEAPOLIS, (AP) — On Wednesday, the Minnesota Twins reassigned Varela as hitting coach to a minor league position. Now, there are three spots for manager Rocco Baldelli.

Varela was the incumbent for two seasons. For two years, he was the club’s minor-league field coordinator. After scoring the second highest 2019. score, the Twins were 14th among baseball’s runs in 2021. Rudy Hernandez, also the hitting coach, is still in his position.

Kevin Morgan was also reassigned from his role as a minor league field coordinator after he was appointed to the position just before the season. Bill Evers, the major league coach, has now retired.

Only four of eight uniformed assistants who returned for 2022 are familiar with Baldelli’s team since his hiring for the 2019 seasons.

” We want consistency in how we work in our clubhouse daily with our players. “Consistency is a good thing,” Baldelli stated.
